The Challenge

Hivado is a men's grooming brand on Shopify (hivado.com). Grooming is a crowded category: a customer scrolling Instagram sees several brands in the same minute, most of them making the same promise in the same way.

Hivado's paid media was returning too little. Creative was weak and return on ad spend was low, so every rupee added to the budget bought more of the same disappointing result. The goal we set together was simple: grow revenue 5x.

What We Did

Performance marketing was the engine. Creative briefing and CRM were the two things we built around it so the engine could scale without leaking.

1. Performance Marketing: Running Paid Media as a Test-and-Scale System

Dhruvit ran the account. The approach was to treat every idea as a hypothesis: a hook, an angle, an audience, an offer. Each one went live as a test with a clear question attached, and the data decided what earned more budget. Winners were scaled and iterated on; losers were cut quickly instead of defended.

This is the part that turned good ideas into revenue. A strong brief only gives you better candidates. Disciplined budget allocation tells you which ones to believe, and how fast to back them.

2. Creative Briefing: Giving the Ads a Reason to Stop the Scroll

Weak creative was capping what the media buying could do, so we wrote Hivado a performance creative brief the way a performance team needs it: which hook opens the ad, which angle carries the argument, and which audience problem it speaks to. Palash led the creative side with Dhruvit.

Some of the hooks and angles travelled further than we expected: other brands in the category later started running similar ones. That's a sign an angle is landing, and a reminder that an angle's edge fades once everyone has it, so the briefing had to keep producing new ones rather than rest on a single winner.

3. CRM: Keeping the Customers the Ads Won

Acquisition only pays back if the customer comes back. We set up Klaviyo flows for the moments grooming customers actually give you: a welcome flow for new subscribers and first-time buyers, a win-back flow for customers who had gone quiet, and WhatsApp marketing alongside email for people who respond there faster.

For a repeat-purchase category like grooming this changes the economics. The same ad spend now buys a customer who is worth more than their first order, which is what lets the paid side keep scaling.

The Results

Monthly revenue grew about 5x over six months, which was the target.

The result came from the three pieces working as one system rather than any one of them. Performance marketing drove and scaled the growth. The creative briefing fed it hooks and angles worth testing. CRM meant more of the customers those ads won came back to buy again.

Hivado's own account points at the same two things: the creative briefing the team shared, and the way performance was run to confirm that the hooks and angles were actually working.

“The creative briefing Palash and Dhruvit shared was excellent, and the hooks became viral. Dhruvit's handling of performance made sure those hooks and angles, which were hypotheses at the start, actually worked.”
